Ahimsa is traditionally translated from the Sanskrit as "harmlessness."  The late Jay Dinshah, long-time vegan activist and founder of The American Vegan society, expanded the concept.  He felt it had too passive a connotation, and coined the term "dynamic harmlessness." This means to not only do the least harm, but also to do the most good. It is this dynamic harmlessness type of Ahimsa that is referred to in this writing.
